I have loved horror movies since as long as I can remember. The music swells, you hold your breath and cover your eyes - What's behind the door?! Nothing gets the heart going like a horror film. I love them, but that doesn't mean I haven't had my fair share of sleepless nights, making sure my foot is firmly under my blanket and watching "Funniest SpongeBob Moments" while I try to erase the terrifying images that are floating around my brain...
In this blog, I'll be giving a few shoutouts to movie moments that have stuck with me (traumatised me) throughout the years - some from younger me and some from current me - I'll let you decide which ones are which.
This is my official content warning - potential spoilers and scary images lie ahead! Enter at your own risk!
Jaws (1975) - Quint's Death

I begged my parents for YEARS to let me watch Jaws. "I won't be scared! I promise!". Jaws is still one of my favourite horror/thriller films today. The amount of tension the film created with an underwater shot of some legs swimming in the ocean was insane! However, the scene that stuck with me the most was when our cool-guy, shark hunter is chomped in half and dragged into the depths! I'm not sue what scared me more - the shark leaping on to the boat causing Quint to slide straight into his mouth, or the thrashing and flailing of poor Quint's body before his untimely death. A brilliant but horrifying scene!
War of The Worlds (2005) - The Aliens Attack
So War of the Worlds is officially listed as an Action and Adventure, but this is a horror movie if I ever saw one!!! This film is, in my opinion, one of the best alien invasion films out there. The sheer size of the alien ships and the sound they make is enough to make you want to turn the film off and just pretend nothing bad is going to happen. There are many shocking moments in this movie, but the part that stood out to me is near the beginning of the film, when the first alien is standing in the street, everyone's scared but a little too curious and then BOOM. Turned to dust. Terrifying. One second - alive. The next - dust. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!
Silent Hill: Revelation (2012) - Mannequin Spider
